Arizona Dragon Boat Festival (March, 2K27)

The Phantoms are a small crew based in the metro Denver area. When we travel to compete in distant venues, we generally need to find additional paddlers to complete our roster. We’re posting here to find anyone who might want to race w/ us in Chicago on July 25 (we currently have 7 slots to fill). If you know of any experienced paddlers who might want to compete, please let me know.

Of course we’re always looking for enthusiastic paddlers to train and race w/ our crew here in Colorado! We’re a 501(c)(3) non-profit and accept paddlers of all ages and ability levels. We have specific programs for cancer survivors and “at-risk” youth.

During the summer months we generally practice Monday and Thursday evenings (6:00± PM) and Saturday mornings (8:00± AM). We generally pull our boats off the water around the end of October. We train primarily in dragon boats, but also do some cross-training in outrigger canoes at other venues.

In the winter, we train at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center every Saturday morning (8:00 AM) and Wednesday evening (6:00 PM) using a paddling simulator I designed and constructed that we use in the swimming pool. Practicing in the simulator during the winter months allows us to compete on equal footing w/ west coast / east coast teams that have open water to practice on year-around.
